A Turn for the Worse

Seriously, Barack Obama, 3 years into his term, has done practically everything wrong. And he's thinking of "revising" the one right thing he did, Public Healthcare. But nothing - well maybe besides his "pat down" tip - has made me angrier than his newest proposal. The man wants to freeze, that's right freeze not "reduce," civilian federal workers' payments. Why? Because "this deficit under control is going to require some broad sacrifice." What baloney! The Obama administration has had the highest defense budget in the history of Democratic presidencies in the past 100 years (keep old FDR out of this). And guess what? He wants to send even more troops to Afghanistan. Meaning more sacrifice... not only of American blood but also of American green. What I don't get is this: why are we trying to help other countries, why are we trying to act like a global police officer, when we ourselves are swimming in a knee-high puddle of shii...problems? I understand sacrifice, but why do need so much of it? Are we any better than those countries we invade? Sure, our streets are safer (really, are they?) and our standard of living is higher (for some), but what exactly gives us the right to fight in these countries? Can we defeat the Taliban or Al-Qaida with war? I can't help but think there must be another way. When was the last time we fought a group of guerilla scumbags for close to 10 years? There's just gotta be some way, but not war. Obama should not look to the Federal workers for relief in the defecit, especially when we could get long-term relief by eliminating War.

Okay, so I admit it, this is totally idealistic. But, what's the alternative? A pragmatic solution? Okay, its actually kinda simple. If we get outta the Middle East, we can amp up our domestic security and continue on with our daily lives. How do we do this? By spending the billions of dollars being spent now in Afghanistan or Iraq. This way, we won't have to worry about any terrorist attack.

Think of it this way: if we were to eliminate the age-old institution of "Jihadi" terrorism, an objective that we have been struggling with for the past decade, shouldn't we be stronger politically and economically than before? Here's my plan: Stall the wars until we are a stronger country. Then, hit them like a cinder block against a brick wall.
President Barack Obama announced a pay freeze for 2 million federal employees Monday and warned the American public that the move is the first of many difficult decisions that must be made to slash the nation's mounting deficits.
"The hard truth is that getting this deficit under control is going to require some broad sacrifice, and that sacrifice must be shared by the employees of the federal government," Obama said. More>
