Birthright Citizenship

A coalition of state legislators has gathered to implement the 14th Amendment "the right way" by preventing the children of illegal immigrants (CII) from gaining citizenship.

So, to review, the 14th Amendment of the United States Constitution says: "All persons born or naturalized in the United States, and subject to the jurisdiction thereof, are citizens." According to these assholes, this clause is not being "properly implemented" by the states, which allow CII to become citizens at birth. So, what are they saying? Well, according to their logic, either the CII are not people or they are not subject to the jurisdiction of the United States.

Well, it goes without saying: by being born in the United States, anyone and I mean ANYONE (whether CII or not) is a person born on American soil.

But, of course, that's not what their arguing. Metcalfe, the guy spearheading this movement, says these babies serve as "anchors"--they can sponsor their illegal family members. Apparently, this is the reason for a burgeoning illegal population.

Look, I'm not saying illegal immigration is good. Its not. But, there are many things we must consider before we even try to rashly categorize it. For example, throughout the 19th century, American legislatures and law enforcement agencies have turned a blind eye to Mexican immigrants being smuggled in for cheap labor on American farms. Not to speculate or anything, but this move certainly did not try to oppose Illegal Immigration. In fact, it arguably promoted it. Moreover, we must understand that the racial majority in the United States is white, most of whom were "settlers" and such who came over from Europe without any papers.

But let's say illegal immigration IS bad. Who should we punish? The "criminals" or their children. In fact, by punishing the latter, we would be committing a crime known as dynastical imprisonment. The same crime that the United States has criticized North Korea for committing.

My point: if we're to enforce a law to fight Illegal Immigration, we must punish the criminals, not their innocent citizen-children. It simply does not make any sense. Not only is it morally incorrect, but also such a movement would be unconstitutional.

Under Obama's plan, these illegals will get a way to get legal, and you know any illegal would want to do that. So what does it matter if these illegals have a child now or 2 years from now when they are legal.

This is like saying people who have kids in America on visas or greencards should only get visas or greencards instead of citizenship.

These fools don't realize how much illegals contribute. First of all, many people have a commonly held misconception that illegal's don't pay taxes. In fact, they do, and they end up paying more relatively than any other group of workers. They automatically get tax deducted from their pay checks, but the only difference between us and them is that they don't get tax rebates. Plus they allow me to get $10 car washes :P
