The Great Visit

The American government begins a journey across Asia with a quick visit to India. As an Indian, I want to know what their intentions are..are they planning to humiliate the world's largest Democracy by labeling it the first non-Islamic screw-up-Nation? But more importantly I want to know what they're doing with our money, American money. I don't care how much they spend, just as long as they spend it for a good cause, a good reason.

First, a word as to what they should do. In the land that spans the distance between Iraq and Bangladesh, the United States has two enemies, one a nation Iran and another - a group of renegades, terrorist and Islamic extremists - in Pakistan and/or Afghanistan. You see, the United States has surrounded Iran--it has Afghanistan and Iraq under its belt being the puppeteers of their executives. However, it cannot say the same thing about Pakistan. Its a known fact that there are Taliban training camps in Pakistan. In fact, the Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI), until recently, was openly affiliated with the Taliban. So, it should be for this reason that the United States goes to India: to make another "ally" in the fight against terror. Mind you, the Indians are probably the best allies the US could even hope for right now. After the Europeans ditched the Americans, India is the only stable country left in this torn region. The sooner such an alliance sparks, the sooner such a war will end.

So, what are they actually doing? Well, the Obama administration is putting the economy on the forefront. Their meeting with rupee-tycoons and promising strange and unusual deals. According to a local newspaper, VOA News English, Mr. Obama so-called "announced plans to lower trade barriers with India." So long as India promises to regulate outsourcing. So, I wonder: is this entire trip about allying with India and treating it like the last hope it is in winning this slowly-dying War against Terror, or is it just a quest for jobs? Obviously, considering its only been a day since the crew landed in India, its too early to conclude anything right now; but, as long as Obama continues to meet with businessmen, turning a blind eye to politicians, I doubt this trip will be of any use. Considering there is a hefty budget in place for all this, as an American, I definitely do not approve of this, spending billions of dollars on talking to dumb businessmen. We must first secure our intentions in war before we even start to talk about the economy.
